The escrow company will contact the title company (in CA they are separate) and request a preliminary title report. There is not much for you to do here other than read the document and file it away. If there are any issues with the title of the property you will start seeing him here. For the most part, if there were issues, the listing (seller's) agent would probably have found those things out before taking on the listing anyways. But nonetheless make sure you don't see anything unusual on the title report.
